4 Important freezer breakdowns

What is the actual situation when the freezer works but does not freeze? Most often it happens in refrigerators with two cooling circuits, respectively with two motor compressors.

Faulty freezer sensor

If the freezer sensor does not work properly, the control module (in the case of electronic control) will not signal the compressor to start. Accordingly, the freezing chamber will stop cooling, and after it, the cooling chamber will stop cooling as well.

But for example in refrigerators of Whirlpool manufacturer, if the freezer sensor is out of order and correspondingly not cooling, refrigerating chamber will work properly. This is due to the specific device of the products of the American manufacturer.

The sealing rubber has burst

On the door of the freezing chamber, the sealing rubber does not fit tightly – this is the direct reason why the freezing chamber does not freeze well. In this case, most likely the compressor of the refrigerator will work continuously which is fraught with its failure.

Warm outside air is being drawn in from under the “slot”. In the refrigerators of the dry freezing system, the fan drives all the remaining cold air into the refrigerating chamber. In a freezer, it is replaced by warm, outside air. This is why the freezer does not cool to the desired temperature.

The thermostat is defective

In mechanically controlled refrigerators, manufacturers often install two thermostats, one for the freezer and one for the refrigerator compartment. If the thermostat of the freezing chamber is defective, the compressor will start very seldom or will not start at all. Correspondingly, the chamber will cool badly or not freeze at all.

Faulty electronic module

In modern refrigerators, all processes are controlled electronically. It is not bad, in fact at times even the slightest deviation of temperature norms in one of the chambers forces electronics to act and bring everything in a necessary way. But let’s be frank, the reliability is much lower than that of refrigerators with mechanical controlling units.

For example, the refrigerating chamber may not cool if the control module, which does not turn off the fan, is defective. All of the cold air is forced into the refrigerator compartment. At the same time, the temperature of the freezer compartment rises.

Also malfunctions in both freezer and refrigerator compartments due to a lack of signal from the module to the defrosting coil. Frozen condensate does not defrost. Over time, it increases in size and blocks the air ducts and drainage channels. The frosting also occurs in the fan space, which may disable it in such a mode of operation.

It happens that the freezer does not cool enough because the display module does not work. This is due to the fact that you can not set the temperature that you would like.

In any of the described cases related to the breakdown of electronic control or one of its components, you can’t do without a master refrigerator technician.
