Any technique, even the most reliable, necessarily has its own motor life. For many centuries, people have tried to invent a perpetual motion machine, but could not create it. The dishwasher was no exception. The time comes, and it begins to break down. Usually, it happens suddenly: the dishwasher stops draining water, what to do in this case? Such a breakdown can be caused by various reasons.
Reasons why the dishwasher does not drain water
Before we start talking about repair, it is necessary to find out why the dishwasher does not drain water. The most common causes of breakdowns related to the drain are:
– The filter is clogged;
– The drain hose is kinked;
– debris in the drain system;
– the drain pump is broken;
– water level sensor does not work;
– the control module is broken.
To determine the failed part, you need to know the structure of the product, and the location of all components.
Determining the fault
The filter is located at the bottom of the dishwasher. Its clogging can be seen even with the naked eye. The same situation applies to the bend in the hose. It is located on the back wall of the machine. It is worth correcting the hose, removing the kink, or overbending, the water will instantly appear to drain.
A little more difficult is to determine the clogging of the drainage system. First, you need to disconnect the drain hose from the sewer system. Carefully examine it, and check the connection with the sewer pipe. To check the hose, you need to disconnect it only from the sewer, the connection to the machine leave untouched. If through it, under great pressure water will flow freely, then the hose has nothing to do with clogging.
Most often the malfunction is related to the operation of the drain pump. It is installed at the bottom of the dishwasher. To determine the malfunction and fix it, you will need to remove the pump. Clean it well. The internal impeller should rotate freely, without sticking or stopping. You can check with an ordinary pencil: just push the impeller.
If all the methods described above did not give a positive result, the dishwasher still does not drain the water, then the water level sensor has stopped functioning or the program module is broken.
What to do if there is water at the bottom of the dishwasher
Let’s say at once that the operation of a faulty dishwasher is strictly forbidden. Any, even the smallest malfunction, must be repaired immediately. If this is not done, the breakage will lead to the failure of other parts. The cause of the breakdown should be searched, consistently going through all the obvious problems. If there is no experience with such machines, it is better to contact a service firm. Masters will quickly find the reason why there is water on the bottom of the dishwasher, and fix it in the shortest time.
Repair procedure after determining the cause of the failure
The drain hose is jammed
Water simply can’t come out, it stays in the dishwasher. The drain hose is located on the back of the machine. To remove the kink, the hose must be disconnected, and return to its normal state. Then restore the original connection. It should be reliable and tight.
The filter or some drainage areas are clogged
Usually, the filter is clogged with food residue. Manufacturers of dishwashers in the instructions for use, necessarily indicate that before you put the dishes in the machine, you must remove all residues from it. To remove the clog, the filter must be removed and cleaned well. You can use an ordinary toothbrush, or rinse the part under a high pressure of running water. The cleaned filter is placed back in its working place.
To remove the clog from the drain hose of the dishwasher, it is disconnected from the machine and cleaned well. After making sure that the hose is clean, it is returned to its place. Usually, the clog is found in the connection with the sewage pipe. To remove the clog in this place, the hose is disconnected, clean the place of connection. Reattaching the hose should ensure complete tightness.
The pump that pumps out the water has burned out
After complete cleaning of all parts, the dishwasher still does not work. In most cases, this is due to the failure of the booster pump. To remove the pump, you need to perform several consecutive operations:
– Dredge the water;
– remove the filter.
– remove the bottom tray;
– disconnect wires of the indicator “Aqua-stop”;
– release the pump from the mount, having previously removed all the hoses.
– The pump operation is checked (the impeller should rotate freely).
The pump is considered faulty if there is no rotation. It must be replaced.
Note: Sometimes the indicator “Aqua-stop” is attached to the pallet. If the wires are damaged, the sensor will no longer function.
A multimeter is connected to the freed contacts of the pump. Its working resistance should be equal to 0.2 kOhm. The voltage applied to the module is checked. If the voltage is too high or completely absent, it is necessary to replace the pump. You can use an analog or buy the original part.
The water level sensor is broken
The sensor that shows the water level is called the water level sensor. If there is a defect in the high-pressure tank, the data is highly distorted. The water level sensor stops signaling to the control module. As a result, the pump stops switching on and stops draining. To solve this problem, you need to install a new sensor.
Software module malfunction
It can fail for several reasons:
– short circuit;
– high wear and tear;
– malfunction of the firmware.
Repairing the electrical part of the dishwasher requires a lot of experience and specific knowledge. Such work is better to entrust to professionals. If it will be impossible to repair the old module, they will install a new part.
When to call a service center for dishwasher repair
Of course, the simplest problems in the work of the dishwasher can be fixed yourself. For example, to fix a kinked hose or remove a clog that has formed. But replacing the pump, and installing a new module or water level sensor is something not everyone can do. If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to contact the master.
How to avoid having water on the bottom of the dishwasher
If you want your dishwasher to run smoothly for a long time, make sure you read the manual before you start. The machine must not be operated in modes that are not provided by the manufacturer. If unexpected malfunctions occur, it is necessary to find out the cause immediately. Otherwise, the device may completely fail. If you cannot find the reason why water remains at the bottom of the dishwasher yourself, you need to contact a master.
