DOES THE REFRIGERATOR COMPRESSOR HAVE TO BE HOT?

The refrigerator motor gets hot during operation. This is due to the heat generated when current is applied to the compressor windings. And the longer it runs, the hotter it gets. This is normal.

Causes when the refrigerator compressor heats a lot, which you can deal with yourself

The “Super-freezing” mode is on. Because of this, the motor runs constantly and gets very hot. The mode is designed to freeze food quickly in the freezer. In some refrigerators, it is turned off manually. Turn off the mode according to the instructions, if you had “Super-freezing” on.

The “Fast freezing” mode is on. Function similar to “Superfreeze” mode, only for the refrigerator compartment. Designed for quick cooling of a large volume of food in the fridge compartment. Disable the mode if you forget to turn it off.

Hot food placement. This causes the compressor to run longer without shutting down and overheating.

The door is ajar. This causes warm air to enter the chamber and the motor has to run constantly. As a result, it gets very hot.

Infrequent defrosting. Check the manual: models without Zero Frost need to be defrosted at least once every 6-12 months. Otherwise, a snow coat in the freezer will prevent the effective cold transfer from the evaporator, and the motor, working with infrequent shutdowns, will be very hot.

Improper food placement in the refrigerator. If you fill the refrigerator so much that you obscure the chilled air ducts to the refrigerator compartment, the cooling efficiency will decrease and the refrigerator will try to compensate for its lack of cooling by continuous operation, which will make the refrigerator compressor very hot.

Incorrect installation. The distance from the warm grill behind the refrigerator (condenser) to the wall must be at least 5 cm. Also, the refrigerator should not be adjacent to the stove and heating appliances. Poor ventilation reduces the heat exchange of the condenser with the environment and increases the load on the compressor.

Possible malfunctions

We’ve repaired tens of thousands of refrigerators, and we can accurately outline the range of possible breakdowns when a compressor gets very hot. You will need refrigerator repair Poway

Worn or damaged door seal

As a result, the door lets warm air into the chamber. To compensate for the heat coming in from outside, the motor runs with infrequent shutdowns.

Temperature sensor or thermostat by which cooling is turned off

The signal of reaching the set temperature from the sensor does not reach the control module, so the compressor runs without stopping.

Control module

The module is processing data from the temperature sensor incorrectly and shuts down cooling late. Therefore, the motor is overloaded and becomes very hot.

Capillary tube blockage.

Because of eclogite ng, the compressor can not pump freon through it in the necessary volume, so it does not shut off and overheats.

Defrosting in No Frost refrigerators

One or more defrost components become defrosted: fuse, defrost sensor, heating element, or defrost timer.

Refrigerant leakage

Occurs in the steel perimeter heating circuit of the freezer, in the factory solder areas, or the weeping evaporator. The lack of freon the refrigerator tries to compensate for by continually running the motor, so the compressor runs without shutting down and gets very hot.

Compressor

There was an inter-turn short circuit in the starting or working winding of the motor.
